Teaching for Transformation
Teaching for Transformation is a design framework for the creation of authentic, formational learning experiences rooted in a transformational worldview. These learning experiences invite, nurture, and empower teachers and students to play their part in God’s story through their everyday learning!
Oskaloosa Christian uses Teaching for Transformation framework to help us design learning opportunities that invite, nurture and empower students to know God’s story and live their part in God’s story.
At Oskaloosa Christian, our teachers begin by asking, “What is the deepest hope I hold for my students?” This question shapes the way they approach teaching and learning each day. Their calling to serve here is rooted in a desire to see students grow in both knowledge and faith. That same longing mirrors the heart of parents who choose Oskaloosa Christian for their children. It flows out of our mission and continually invites students to see themselves as part of God’s unfolding Story.
Each classroom at Oskaloosa Christian is guided by a clear and inspiring vision of God’s Kingdom—one that stirs in every student a desire to take part in His unfolding story. A classroom storyline helps teachers weave together curriculum and faith, showing how every subject connects to God’s bigger picture. Through this, students are encouraged to see their learning as part of discovering their unique place in God’s story each day.
Throughlines are biblical traits that we are called to practice and reflect in our daily lives. At Oskaloosa Christian, these Throughlines shape the culture of our school as we encourage students, staff, and families to live them out in meaningful ways. They serve as a guide for how we participate in community and understand our place in God’s world.
FLEx give students the opportunity to actively live out their role in God’s story today. At Oskaloosa Christian, we believe students should engage in meaningful work that meets real needs for real people. These experiences move learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to put their faith into action and grow into people whose lives reflect the work of God’s Kingdom.
🌟 Teaching for Transformation in Action! 🌟
Our 5th-grade students recently dove into the beautiful story Love, Amalia, where they discovered the heartfelt lessons passed down from Amalia’s grandmother. Inspired by this story, the students reflected on the invaluable lessons they’ve learned from their own loved ones.
💻 They brought these reflections to life through thoughtful Google Slide presentations titled “Lessons from Loved Ones”, showcasing how the wisdom and love of family and friends have shaped them.
To make this project even more special, the students hosted a reception for their loved ones, celebrating their influence and sharing their work. It was a heartfelt time of gratitude and connection, reminding us of the importance of community and God’s design for us to learn and grow through relationships.
📖 Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” These students are a testament to the power of passing on Christ-centered values and love.
Thank you to our 5th graders and their loved ones for being part of this meaningful FLEx project. 💕
